Journal for the popularisation of scientific research conducted in the INRS' laboratories

What is Synthesis?

The Journal La Synthèse is a popular science journal written by master's and PhD students at the National Institute for Scientific Research (INRS). It aims to democratize the research carried out in the laboratories of all university's centers. What is scientific research? What experiments are conducted by the scientists? What are the latest scientific discoveries? These are the kinds of questions popular articles answer! The topics of the articles are based on the different study programs of all the INRS centers: Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie centre, Urbanization Culture Société centre, Énergie Matériaux Telecommunications centre, as well as the Eau Terre Environnement centre. From bacteria to cancer, to hydrology and sustainable energy sources to social issues,  you will be served! The articles, in English and in French, are presented with a comic strip which illustrate the topic. Find out more ...

The Synthesis, over the years

By making research accessible to a wider audience through bilingual articles and captivating illustrations, La Synthèse promotes a better understanding of current scientific issues. Regular publication and participation in public events demonstrate its commitment to science education and public outreach.

Student cooperation has played a crucial role in the evolution of scientific journals over the years. By dedicating themselves to this project, students not only develop their scientific communication skills but also contribute to combating misinformation. It's a great example of how student engagement can enrich the academic community and beyond.
