What is Synthesis?

Who is behind the project?

The Journal La Synthèse is a popular science journal  done by master's and doctoral students at the National Institute for Scientific Research (INRS). The adventure began in 2017 with two doctoral students who wanted to popularize their research project and offer this opportunity to their teammates. The aim of this journal is therefore to democratize the research carried out in the laboratories of the INRS. What is scientific research? What experiments are conducted by the scientists? What are the latest scientific discoveries? These are the kinds of questions popular articles answer!

The subjects of the articles are based on the different study programs of the four INRS centers: Center Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie (AFSB), Center Urbanization Culture Société (UCS), Center Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications (EMT), as well as the Water Earth Environment Center (ETE).  From bacteria to cancer, to hydrology, sustainable energy sources to social issues,  you will be served! The articles, in English and in French, are presented with a  comic strip which illustrates the subject. It is quite a challenge for a scientist to explain his or her research, but one of the best ways to develop science communication skills is to practice! With our growing team, La Synthèse allows INRS students to popularize their research project in writing. Who are behind the journal ? It's up to you to find out ...

From bacteria to cancer, hydrology, sustainable energy sources, and societal issues, you'll be spoiled for choice! The articles, in French and English, are accompanied by a comic book illustrating the topic at hand. Explaining their research is a real challenge for a scientist. One of the best ways to develop scientific communication skills is to practice! With our growing team, La Synthèse allows INRS students to popularize their research project in writing.

Who are behind the newspaper?
